A Letter from

Dr. Sarojini Naidu to her patients at Orchid Medical Clinic

Regarding COVID-19

Updated: March 23, 2020

To all my patients,

I am taking this step to write to you personally regarding the COVID-19 virus. You will have heard the directive from our Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry, to self-isolate and practice social distancing.

The time to act is now. Our province is in a state of emergency. What we do today will impact the health of British Columbians in the weeks to come.

Please stay home unless you are leaving for an essential service such as groceries or pharmacy. No dinner parties. No shopping. No sports, not even outside. Instead, have coffee with a friend online or connect with a loved one over the phone.

Make sure to keep a distance of six feet away from the next person – this is about the width of a car or the length of two arms stretched out, twice. Wash your hands frequently. Call your loved ones and tell them to do the same.

This is especially important for young people. It is imperative that younger generations understand that they can also get sick from this virus and that they can cause harm to parents, grandparents, and other loved ones through transmitting the virus as a carrier.

We understand that social distancing can be difficult, awkward, and lonely. However, when you gather at locations such as the beach or park with your friends, you are putting everyone at risk.

Doctors cannot do this alone. What the public does now will impact the health of British Columbians the weeks and months ahead. Lives depend on your actions now.

We can’t wait one more hour or one more day. Let’s save lives, together.

Please note that I have switched over to telephone and virtual visits during this time. The office is still open, but I advise that you do not come to the office unless it is absolutely necessary. If I feel that it is necessary for you to come in, I will schedule a time for you after I have met with you virtually or discussed your concerns over the phone. We will make sure you are safely accommodated at our clinic.

Please call our front desk at 604-544-6462 to book a telephone or virtual visit to discuss your health concerns and any medication renewals, which we will gladly send to your preferred pharmacy.

Our website www.orchidmedicalclinic.com has information regarding the COVID-19 as well as a self-assessment tool. You can also follow us on Instagram @orchidmedicalclinic for posts and recent information about the clinic and COVID-19.

I hope that each and every one of you is staying healthy and doing your part in fighting this outbreak. I appreciate your support during these difficult times. I look forward to seeing you all again.

Sincerely,

Dr. Sarojini Naidu, MD CCFP
